How You're Making an Impact

Advancing Research in Neurodiversity

The Mpedi Neurodiversity Studies Scholarship empowers Master’s students conducting research on the neurodevelopmental needs of children and youth—especially children with Down Syndrome. This work strengthens knowledge, awareness, and academic insight into neurodiversity.

Supporting Future Specialists and Advocates

By funding four Master’s students each year, the scholarship increases the number of professionals equipped to understand, support, and transform the learning experiences of neurodiverse children. This investment builds future leaders in an urgently needed field.

Promoting Inclusion Through Education

Inspired by the Mpedi Family’s commitment, the scholarship uplifts research that fosters empathy, inclusivity, and respect for neurodiverse learners. It supports evidence-based solutions that improve educational environments and champion the rights of children with different developmental needs.

Reducing Financial Barriers for Emerging Researchers

With R50,000 in once-off funding, the scholarship eases the financial pressure of postgraduate study, enabling students to focus fully on high-impact research. This support strengthens the Centre for Neurodiversity’s mission to address global challenges in neurodevelopment.
